Divorce (2)

"But my husband beats me." "My wife cheated on me. I can't trust her again." "I don't love him any more." Many reasons, in the eyes of man - right reasons to get divorced.  But God hates divorce. As a born again Christian will you do what your Father hates?

“The Pharisees also came to Him, testing Him, and saying to Him, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any reason?” And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.” They said to Him, “Why then did Moses command to give a certificate of divorce, and to put her away?” He said to them, “Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, permitted you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭19:3-10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The Pharisees were looking for justification for their actions.

Even though divorce in this respect was addressed to man because to God it is a man that marries a woman. "He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favour from the Lord." (Prov 18:22) Yet divorce could be instigated by the woman as well.

Marriage is God's holy institution and a covenant with God as a witness (Mal 4:11,14). The purpose and standard was set by Elohim. Because of the hardness of the heart of man, divorce was permitted but in the beginning it was not so.

I have heard people use Matthew 19:9 as justification that Jesus allowed some divorce i.e. Where the woman committed sexual immorality. In my own childlike understanding of the things of God. If God hates divorce and did not plan this why would Jesus be okay with any kind of divorce?

If you divorce your wife because she committed adultery, why would that divorce be okay with God? Its not justifying the sin of adultery but should it be reason to do what God hates?

Are you a Christian who is thinking about getting divorced? Seek the LORD in prayer. He will never tell you it is okay to do what He hates. But because of the hardness of  your heart...

Are you married to a wife or husband beater? Wisdom says take yourself out of the line of fire. Do not stay till he or she beats you to death. Should you then divorce because of that? This must be between you and the God you serve. He has stated His mind. He has also given each one of us free will to decide and make a choice. Before you do, ask yourself; 'Is there anything too difficult for God to do?' Take your particular situation to Elohim, wait on Him for direction. He will lead you aright.

Did you divorce before you knew the truth? Look out for Divorce (3) as I share with you my experience based on the word of God ONLY not the wisdom of humankind.
