#Wordforthisweek 2019 Week 2 A #place of #refuge

“Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word; for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him.”” Matthew‬ ‭2:13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

We usually see ‘Egypt’ as a place of bondage, captivity, pain etc. But it can also been a place of refuge.

The parent of Jesus was told by the angel to take the child Jesus to Egypt because the king wanted to kill him. They lived there till the king died and it was safe to return to Israel.

The tribe of Israel relocated to Egypt during the severe famine to protect them from starvation. Just as their fore father Abraham did many years earlier.
Egypt became a place of protection. But it was a place meant to be temporary not permanent.

If Jesus had stayed permanently in Egypt, he would not have fulfilled purpose.
When the Israelite over-stayed in Egypt the place of protection became the place of bondage, slavery and pain.

When God relocates you for protection, do not by yourself make it permanent. Seek and hear the Lord.

Is where you are a place of protection or your promise land?

This week, reflect on your current location and prayerfully seek the Lord for revelation.

#Prayerfortheweek
Almighty Father, in the name of Christ Jesus may I not settle for Egypt in place of my promise land. Give me the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You and Your plan for my life. Amen

I pray this inspires you to be more and do more for Yeshua Ha Mashiach (Jesus Christ). Spend this week to meditate on the passage and take relevant step to live out your faith.
