WordfortheWeek 2021 Week 6 Equation of Life for Good Success (1)

copyright aakintoye

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you[c] shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Joshua 1:8 NKJV

If you were to have an equation for the good success of your life, what would it be? Would Elohim God feature in it and in what way?

Life(God+family+career+friend+xx) = good success

God(family+career+friends+xx) = good success

————————————-

               Life

God(family)+God(career)+God(friends)+God(xx) = good success

Life has so many variables because things change. But Elohim God never changes.  As we navigate the variables of life, it is easy to forget Elohim God or our Him last. Doing things by ourself becomes normal, until we hit a brick wall or get into trouble.

The story of Joshua is an insightful case study of a man who made his God the coefficient for every variable of his life. Elohim encouraged Joshua many times to be strong and courageous for the work that he had been purposed for.

Joshua was from the tribe of Ephraim. He was born in Egypt and was a young man at the time of the exodus. He would have experienced the evidence of God’s power over Egypt. In the wilderness, he became Moses’ assistant (Ex 33:11) and one of his choice men. And he began to be skilled in warfare – he led the fight with the Amalekites (Ex 17:9). He also began to be trained in military strategy – he was one of the twelve spies sent to Canaan. We read how much he trusted in Elohim. He and Caleb tried to encourage the people to trust in the Lord to give them victory over the Canaanites saying: “The land we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land. If the LORD delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, ‘a land which flows with milk and honey.’ Only do not rebel against the LORD, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the LORD is with us. Do not fear them.”’ Numbers 14:6-9 NKJV.

His trust in the God of Israel became his salvation into the promised land. He was chosen by Elohim God as Moses' successor, a big shoe to fill. But Elohim God did mighty things through him - Jordan parted, Jericho’s wall crumbled, the Sun and the Moon stood still until the battle was won, military victory one after the other.

Elohim was in every detail of Joshua’s life. He gave Joshua his life purpose – to lead the Israelites from the wilderness into the promise land. And also, to have great success.

Elohim was the director, He told Joshua what, when and how. The two times when Joshua left out Elohim led to issues. Joshua made assumptions about the presence of Elohim for the battle of Ai and was defeated in a humiliating way. The second time was accepting the Gibeonites as travellers from a far foreign land instead of one of the enemies to be defeated. Both times he did not first seek the Lord’s counsel. But Joshua learnt his lesson very quickly and the Lord granted him great success. The Lord made Joshua a great leader in the eyes of all the Israelites, and for the rest of his life they revered him as much as they had revered Moses (Joshua 4:14 NLT).

What lessons can we learn from the life of Joshua?

To be continued…

Have a wonderful week ahead.

#Prayerfortheweek

Almighty Father, thank You for the gift of my salvation. Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You and that I may find grace in Your sight. In the name of Yeshua I pray. Amen.

I pray that this inspire you to reflect on your relationship with Elohim and be determined to be more and do more for Him each day.
