…that no flesh
should glory in His presence. But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became
for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption—
that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the Lord.” I Corinthians 1:29-31 NKJV
In my short life I have seen people started with nothing and
then become materially rich. I have heard people testify about their beginnings
in poverty, but are now rich. It is a blessing of the Most High who has given us the
means to make wealth.
The Corinthian churches were blessed, enriched in
everything by Jesus; in all utterance and all knowledge, and not short in gift,
(I Corinthians 1:5, 7 NKJV). Unfortunately, this led to boasting and glorying
in themselves and their gifts. They started sectarianism and division.
They believed and gloried in their own wisdom.
Apostle Paul had to remind them that 'For since, in the
wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God
through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. I
Corinthians 1:21 NKJV.
They had nothing to boast about because not many mighty, not
many noble, are called. But God has chosen the foolish things of the
world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world
to put to shame the things which are mighty; their wisdom, knowledge and
abilities are gifts from God so that that no flesh should glory in His
presence. (I Corinthians 1:26, 27, 29 NKJV
A good lesson for the ministers of the gospel.
The message is not your material wealth, or what you can do or undo. The
message is Jesus Christ. The gospel does not need you to glorify the numbers of
cars, jets, houses, gold and so forth that you have for people to give their
life. In fact, promoting material things above Jesus is asking people to
worship the god of mammon not the True God.
Our spiritual leadership standard are the first
Apostles; search their history for such boast and you will struggle to find any.
These people were used mightily by Jesus Christ.
We think highlighting our material riches will bring people
to Christ. Maybe...but is it enough to convert them? There is too much emphasis
on material things in Church denominations so much so that it is full of
unconverted souls.
‘These people draw
near to Me with their mouth, And[e] honor Me with their lips,
But their heart is
far from Me. 9 And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments
of men. (Matthew 15:8)
Focusing on ourselves in preaching the gospel
takes the glory from Yeshua. Let us not elevate our material possession, wisdom
or abilities given to us by Elohim, turning people from Him to us; causing
sectarianism and divisions. Jesus Christ should be the content of our life and
preaching.
PrayerforToday 10 May 2018
Everlasting Father, let me not glory in myself but in You. Of You I am in
Christ Jesus, who became for me wisdom from God—and righteousness and
sanctification and redemption. In Jesus name I pray. Amen
It is the will of the everlasting Father that you may have everlasting
life through Jesus. See Him in the Holy Scriptures, believe in Him and He will
raise you up on the last day John 6:40 NKJV
I pray this inspires you to be more and do more for Yeshua Ha Mashiach
(Jesus Christ).
