#WordfortheWeek 2021 Week 21 Change (2)

“The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you.” Genesis 12:1 NLT

Changing to become a new man in Christ is a deliberate act affecting three things; our body, mind and way of living.

1.         Body

“Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So, use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God.” Romans 6:13 NLT

2.         Renewal of the mind

“With the Lord’s authority I say this: Live no longer as the Gentiles do, for they are hopelessly confused. Their minds are full of darkness; they wander far from the life God gives because they have closed their minds and hardened their hearts against him. They have no sense of shame. They live for lustful pleasure and eagerly practice every kind of impurity. But that isn’t what you learned about Christ. Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.” Ephesians 4:17-24 NLT

3.         A new way of living

“For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him. We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him. When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God. So, you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus. Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires...Now you are free from your slavery to sin, and you have become slaves to righteous living...But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life.”

Romans 6:7-12, 18, 22 NLT

Some of us are still on that journey of transitioning from the old to the new, and not yet reached the new man status. Maybe like Abraham, we still have some ‘Lots’ walking the journey with us and God has remained silent. Even if the change feels painful because we are holding on to the familiar and refusing to let go. Let us not go back to our old life because it is familiar and comfortable.

Do you want to reach your promised land - eternity with Christ? Get out of your comfort zone. Let go of all the ‘Lots’ in your life, and build an altar of living sacrifice to God today.

Let your new nature be your new ‘normal’.

The new life is only for those with a relationship with Yeshua. Why not take that step to enter into this glorious relationship with him today. It is easy to do. Acknowledge and Repent of your sins and be determined to turn away from them. Confess and declare Jesus as the Son of God and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead. Accept him as your Lord and Saviour. Declare your faith openly and become a new creature in Christ, old things have passed away. Follow Jesus in all areas of your life and start that wonderful journey with Him immediately.

I encourage you to search for a bible teaching fellowship near you for support and your spiritual growth.

#Prayerfortheweek

Almighty Father, thank You for the gift of my salvation and the Holy Spirit. In the mighty name of Yeshua Christ Jesus. Thank you for my new life in Yeshua. May I be renewed as I learn more about and grow in him. I give my body completely to You. I renew my mind to that of Yeshua. I am free from the power of sin. Amen.

If you accepted Jesus or turned back to him, please get in touch. I am so excited! You give me hope and joy and are my proud reward and crown when I stand before our Lord Jesus when he returns. Yes, you are our pride and joy. (1 Thessalonians 2:19-20 NLT)
