#WordforToday 13 February 2018 Victory over the power of sin (1)

For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:10-11

As I read Romans chapter 5 and 6, I am persuaded that every confessed born again child of God must study in depth these two chapters to understand the work that Jesus did, why he did it and what the impact and implication is for their life.

The grace of God in salvation through faith in Jesus is available to all and on all. I break this down to be, access is open to all but imputed on each individually.
Justification by the blood and reconciliation with the Father by the death of Jesus is accepted by faith. This is a spiritual act of faith. If not how can you think the blood of Jesus saves?

One of the impact and implication of what Jesus’ death and resurrection did was to nullify the power of sin in our life and thereby giving us the hope of eternal life. At the fall of Adam, sin took dominion over mankind, transferred by the seed of man. The wickedness of man became great on earth (still is by the way), that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And this grieved the heart of the Almighty Father (Genesis 6:5-6). He wiped out the world except for seven people.

Despite this, even after the flood the bible still declared that the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked (Jer 17:9-10). Man was still under the dominion of sin.

Hallelujah, Jesus came to break this power once and for all. The sin that came through the disobedience of one man to all, is replaced by the the victory over sin by the obedience of one man - Jesus - to all. The access to this victory is by faith in him.

We have power over sin. We have the ability to live holy. We have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in heavenly realms. But how can we who now have dominion over sin continue to live in it? Why can't we knockout sin once and for all?
