#WordforToday 20th February 2018 Because you are worth it.

“I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion.” So then it  is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy. Romans 9:15‭-‬16 NKJV.

This bible passage is very weighty. We can not try to bribe God with our good works. God does not look at our religiosity to show us mercy. It does not matter how much anointing you and I carry or the miracles we do. This is humbling isn’t it. Who are we that we are so proud? What have we accomplished that makes us arrogant?

We have examples of godly men and women in the bible to learn from. They enjoyed the favour of the Almighty God. One such person was Noah. He lived in a most wicked and evil generation. The bible recorded that Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. He was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God.” Genesis 6:8-9 NKJV. He found favour because he was a just man, perfect in his generation and he walked with God.

We found favour with God because of His mercy. As sinners, not just or perfect like Noah, God showed us love. He gave His son to die for our sins. We were not just but unjust. We were not perfect but imperfect. We were not righteous in His sight but sinful human beings yet He made a way not by law but by grace to become sinless and righteous in His sight. Isn't this a glorious act of mercy and compassion? By His will, he showed us mercy.

For His own reason, He counted us worthy of His mercy and compassion. He gave us His Son because to Him, you and I are worth it.
